Lakeland, Florida-- Art and Agriculture are two topics that are often unrelated, but a progressive party at St Joseph's Catholic Church will change that this weekend.
"Art in AgriCulture" takes place on Saturday, April 28 from 7:00 - 11:00 p.m. at the St. joseph's Catholic Church basketball Pavillion in Lakeland, Florida.
In celebration of Earth Month and Polk County's rich agricultural heritage, the event will feature visual art, short film, fashion, sound and performance, with a focus on agricultural heritage.
According to the Bartow Chamber of Commerce, in addition to honoring Earth Month with various art media, "Art in AgriCulture" will make an effort to usher pedestrians from The Lakeland Center to downtown locations, like the garden at the corner of New York Avenue and Orange Street, Hollis Garden, the Frances Langford Promenade at Lake Mirror, and shops, bars and restaurants in the area.
St. Petersburg artist Charlie Parker has been commissioned to design and produce a large ceramic tile mural to be installed on the Orange Street Bridge to create a gateway from The Lakeland Center into the downtown area.
